The National Photographic Archive, part of the National Library of Ireland, holds over 20,000 photo negatives dating from 1870 to 1954 and over 5.2 million historical and contemporary photographs of mostly Irish origin. The Archive maintains rotating exhibits of stored photographic materials; on display are multiple collections, such as the Keogh Collection of 330 glass plates detailing political figures and events from 1915 to 1930, and the Poole Collection, a series of order books from the Poole family of commercial photographers active from 1884 to 1954.

The NPA maintains a reading room for researchers with a prior appointment, but many of the collections have been at least partially digitized for public view on the Archive’s website.
